Preserving and Maintaining Muttontown’s Equestrian Heritage
In 1982, a small group of people from the Muttontown community joined together to form the Muttontown Horsemen’s Association. Over the years our membership has grown and our activities have expanded to meet the needs of both riders and non-riders.
MHA has achieved the distinction of being recognized as the Adopt-A-Park Organization for the Muttontown Preserve at the request of the Nassau County Parks and Recreation. In this capacity we are working towards the maintenance and improvement of the trail system which will benefit all by providing safe trails for riding , hiking and nature walks, along with the preservation of the greenspaces of Muttontown. We also actively develop and maintain a network of auxiliary trails throughout the village which provide access to the preserve for Muttontown’s equestrians and residents.
While we are all volunteers, we pride ourselves on the amount of time and energy that is devoted to such a worthwhile cause. Many equestrian trails are on or near private property and our organization is appreciative of the residents generosity.
We ask that anyone who is aware of any part of the trail system that needs attention please call us at 516-922-8245 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
